PRINCIPAL OWNERS
In 2002, two highly experienced former CEOs, Larry Densen and W. A. “Butch”
Lahmann, decided to pool their talents and start a new company called
TunerWear, Inc. Larry’s background is 25 years in the Industrial
Safety business as a major distributor and manufacturer of safety equipment
including a heavy emphasis on gloves. He is highly experienced in the
design and manufacturing process of gloves for work and safety purposes.
“Butch” has 40 years of experience as CEO of a large distribution
business in the specialty automotive field, and brings a vast amount of
experience in the automotive aftermarket. He also ran a chain of automotive
specialty stores in New York.
INITIAL RESEARCH
The research done by these entrepreneurs showed that there is a need for
a higher quality line of gloves for automotive and general mechanic work
use, and that this product line could be offered at lower prices than
the competition. Considerable time and effort went into designing and
production of the TunerWear line. One basic decision made was to offer
a line with embroidered graphics… embroidery is superior to the
silk screened graphics offered by competitors, because it does not split,
crack and peel off after washing or normal use.
TUNER MARKET
The initial series of gloves were designed for the “Tuner”
market… Gen-X automotive enthusiasts that are tuned into high performance
sport compact cars. Gloves were designed for mechanic work and driving
use. TunerWear offers plain mechanic, anti-vibration mechanic, three-fingered
anti-vibration mechanic and leather palmed driving gloves in the Tuner
Line-up.
SUV-LIGHT TRUCK MARKET
The next area attacked by TunerWear was the Sport Utility and Light truck
market, with the introduction of the Patriot Series of gloves, which mirrors
the Tuner Line in styles of gloves available, but with USA-American graphics
designs (all fully embroidered.) We also added our Grappler model, designed
by off-roaders for use with winch cables, ropes and general outdoor use.
These 100% leather beauties are also perfect for MIG and TIG welding applications.
PRIME SERIES
The third wave of TunerWear product is designed for those who want a lower
cost, plain black glove alternative, but with the same high quality as
our other products. We included mechanic, anti-vibration mechanic and
driving gloves in this series.
INDUSTRIAL-SPORTS
We then turned to general industrial and sports use, with the addition
of the Extrication glove loaded with Kevlar protection for really tough
jobs, and our four Half-Fingered styles for all types of sports and industrial
uses.
LEATHER JACKETS
Our Varsity styled leather jackets make perfect corporate award programs.
They are very high quality and come fully embroidered with company or
car club logos, making a high class appearance, at a reasonable price.
CUSTOM GLOVES
We realized early on that our gloves were a perfect item for corporate
promotions, with custom embroidered graphics available on a superior glove
in low minimum quantities.
APC GLOVES
TunerWear is pleased to be the EXCLUSIVE manufacturer of gloves bearing
the APC (American Products Co.) Logo, under a licensing agreement signed
in November, 2003. This exciting new product line is projected to be available
for sale in January, 2004.
